4. More and more animals are becoming endangered or extinct at an alarmingly fast rate. By hurting animals we in turn are hurting ourselves.
3. Animals have the right to food, safety and affection. They are living creatures and should be treated as the miracles of life that they are, just like humans. "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal…." (Proverbs 12:10)
2. Animals feel pain, both physical and emotional, just as we do. Unlike humans though animals are unable to voice what is hurting them. Animal abuse has not only physical effects but can sometimes be even worse on the mind. For example, cows and even chickens, have been shown to mourn for days when their young are taken away.
1. Many people who are abusive or violent towards animals are or will become violent towards people also. Studies have shown that a huge number of people that have committed violent crimes (i.e. Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, Jeffrey Dahmer) had a history of animal cruelty. Cruelty towards animals can be a indication of psychological problems.
