The discovery of extinct wildlife in the Honduras jungle gives various scientists hope that forgotten species will reemerge in some other part of the world. Many more expeditions are being carried out by the organization for this purpose. Many scientists believe that extinct species are probably still around but have moved on different areas to survive.
A group of scientists from Conservation International traveled to the area to find the Lost City of the Monkey God. This famed lost city supposedly once inhabited the jungle area. However, they discovered diverse species of animals living in the area. Many of these creatures were thought to have been extinct. The area of the jungle that the City of the Lost Monkey God once inhabited had all sorts of animal species. The Conservation International group classified their findings. They rediscovered 198 different bird species, 40 small mammals and they also encountered large cats that were relatives of the puma and jaguar. Plant species, insects and snakes were also reported. Some species of animals that were thought to have been long forgotten were also present. Some of the officials from Conservation International stated that that the Honduras Jungle area is one of the few places where a natural biodiversity of life exists in its natural form. The area is now being transformed through conservation efforts. These efforts are being implemented to maintain the area and to keep natural life in the area safe. The efforts will also allow the different species to develop free from too much human intervention. Situations such as deforestation will be diverted through conservation efforts. This way, they can examine how life evolves and changes on its own.
