Nothing is more inspiring than two legends partnering for a noble cause. Ethical investor and Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and renowned vegan primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall, two environmentalists who are active campaigners against animal cruelty have just done that. The duo have partnered to launch an inspirational clothing line, which aims at supporting ape conservation.
âThe clothing line comprises organic hoodies fashioned out of recycled materials, and organic t-shirts. Both feature a distinctive design incorporating the phrase, "Don't Let Them Disappear." The duo intends to use the apparel line to pay homage to five of the most iconic ape species: gibbons, bonobos, orangutans, gorillas, and chimpanzees. The exclusive hoodies and t-shirts are only available in a fortnight-long flash sale.
While stressing the essence of this noble partnership, DiCaprio stated that apes species are subjected to animal cruelty and are at risk of extinction. He highlighted the case of orangutans, which have lost more than 80% of their natural habitat in the past two decades as a result of encroachment by wood pulp and palm oil industries.
The clothing line is currently available for purchase on the Represent website. The message being passed across is that if we do not make a deliberate effort to protect apes, most species will be extinct in the next two decades. This isnât the first time that the due is partnering for a noble cause.
âEarly this year when the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation marked its 20th anniversary, he was joined by Dr. Goodall and actor Mark Rufallo who is also a renowned animal welfare advocate. At the gala and celebratory dinner, the eco-conscious trio rallied attendees to raise over $7 million for biodiversity protection and climate change projects.
DiCaprio, Dr. Goodall and vegan artist Moby have in the past been spotted severally having lunch together in Los Angeles. It is speculated that the three intend to initiate a project aimed at saving earth.
