Activist from international and domestic groups have delivered 11 million signatures to the authorities in opposition of the upcoming Yulin Dog Festival scheduled to take place on June 21. The slaughter takes place in Yulin, a part of China's Guangxi Autonomous Region. In the 2014 and 2015 festival over 10,000 dogs were slaughtered for human consumption.
While majority of Chinese citizens are against the event including Yulin authorities, dog meat traders refuse to end the cruel and disturbing festival. The number of dogs slaughtered has dropped in recent years thanks to the outcries of concerned citizens and activists.
